Wohlters was born on August 10, 1842. He was also known by his anglicized name, Andrew. He ran the Lord Nelson Tavern. He died in Hong Kong on January 4, 1888 and was buried at the Hong Kong Cemetery. Wohlters was married to Maria da Cruz.
